LDL - the bad cholesterol

What is LDL?
LDL serve an important function in the body, carrying fats from the liver to cells, among other things but excess of LDL cause problems and that's why LDL is called "bad cholesterol", it stands for Low-density lipoprotein.
I only got to know about it when upon a test my doctor told me that your "LDL" is high and I had no idea what is LDL and why was it high!
Doctor explained something like this to me: It carries the majority of cholesterol through your bloodstream and delivers it to the cells of the body, it clog arteries and lead to cardiovascular/heart disease. That's why LDL is known as the "bad" cholesterol, you can remember it as "least desirable" as well.
If your LDL is lower than 130 mg/dL then you are fine, if its above 160mg/dL then its definitely hight and you need to start working on controlling it through diet and execise othewise get ready to start taking pills eveyday.
